Pressing Pause: Our Body Politic is on hiatus.     |     Click here to learn more.

I’m excited to share with you that I’m the creator and host of the new syndicated public radio show and podcast, Our Body Politic.

Our Body Politic is unapologetically centered on reporting on not just how women of color experience the major political events of today, but how they’re impacting those very issues. Weekly episodes feature in-depth conversations about the economy, health, politics, education, the environment, and the most prescient issues—because all issues are women’s issues.

And at Our Body Politic, we want to hear from YOU. We’re using the proprietary narrative analysis system, Speak, to gather your responses. Right now, we’re asking: “What is the most important challenge you are dealing with right now?” To respond, call +1-929-353-7006 or type your thoughts here.

Our first episode launched on September 25. I got to talk Census with actor and activist Alfre Woodard, spoke with two lawyers leading the campaign to put a Black woman on the Supreme Court, and discussed the power of Black and WoC voters this November with Errin Haines of The 19th and Jess Morales Rocketto of the National Domestic Workers Alliance.

On this week’s episode, I talked with Congresswoman Deb Haaland of New Mexico, then dug into politics and the economy in conversations about income taxes and the role of disinformation in our elections. I also spoke with one woman uplifting families of police-violence victims, and learned how exotic dancers in Atlanta are getting out the vote. Plus, our weekly Covid update about the pandemic’s impact on communities of color, and why flu shots are vital right now.

The show is presented by KCRW, KPCC, and KQED; and produced by Lantigua Williams & Co. To listen, you can tune into public radio stations around the country, check out our Simplecast page, and subscribe to wherever you listen to podcasts.
